Maybe I am mistaking, but I have a feeling, that many open-source tools shift to close state. I mean, they shift from free tools for developers, very often supported by community, to product with different subscription plans, and also with free plan that cause only tears. At the same time, they continue to use ideas that generate community, only with the own implementation. It was a funny fact on conference, one developer suggests to use earlier versions of library because it is free and still stable and useful.
